Friday the 13th Series: Coming to Small Screen
Following the last year’s reports of franchise returning to the small screen, Friday the 13th series has been confirmed by Deadline. It will have aired on The CW. The series would have directly related to Jason Voorhees and Crystal Lake.
Steven Long Mitchell and Craig W. Van Sickle will be the creators of the show. Steven said, “I don’t think we wanted to do the show about a guy with the machete chasing girls in tube tops. We could not do that on the weekly basis. So what ends up resulting is, a cop comes into town, looking for his brother. He recognizes his brother was there searching into past murders &realizes that his personal story has tied into the Jason’s personal story.
He added that What they are going to do is acknowledge that people came to this town after these killings happened, & they made all these movies. And now the town has a stigma. Our show is, ‘Here’s the true story. Here’s the real story of Jason.’ It has been taken & utilized. So They have the young crowd who does not know who he is except for what they have seen in the films. The older crowd is afraid of him. They have a lot of people who have scars or marks from him. The underlying thematic of the whole thing is that Jason is the monster in this town. He openly wears the mask. But everybody in this town wears the mask. Beneath those are the monster.
